The Christmas Club

It's so good to see Cameron Mathison after he's had a rough year, he's one of my favorite HM actors (The Christmas Ornament is one of my favorites).

Olivia (Elizabeth Mitchell) and Edward (Cameron Mathison) meet when an older woman, Gertrude (Gabrielle Rose), who was practically fanning and waving four $20 bills around, has the money swept from her hands in a gust of December wind. After hearing that the money had been saved throughout the year for Christmas presents for her grandkids, Olivia and Edward both give her $40 but tell her they really found the money outside. After going their separate ways, Olivia and Edward's paths keep crossing, so well fated!

Olivia learns that the dance school where she teaches is going to be sold, and, after another chance encounter with one of Edward's clients in tow, his client buys the property on the spot, jeopardizing the school's Christmas Eve recital. Naturally (and ridiculously illogically), Olivia blames Edward. He redeems himself to her when he encourages her to start her own dance studio and walks her through the loan application and finds her the perfect little spot. Olivia gets her small business loan and is able to hold the recital in her new space. So, Christmas is saved... until Olivia finds out that Edward is the one that pushed the loan through quickly. Olivia, again, ridiculously and illogically, accuses Edward of not believing in her. Good grief, she's exhausting.

The movie is peppered with little moments where Olivia and Edward see strangers paying $20 bills forward as well Gertrude watching Edward and Oliva fall in love, and who, in the end, helps Olivia and Edward realize their feelings for each other.

I 1000% thought this was a recoupling of Cameron Mathison and Kelly Rutherford (from Love, of Course) based on the promo photos and I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty disappointed. BTW - apparently Kelly and Elizabeth's resemblance is a thing on the internet -

After meeting him exactly once, Olivia lets her daughter go off with Eddie's brother-in-law. Someone call CPS.

The recital is actually held in the windows of the new studio, which is actually one of the coolest things I've seen.
