Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy

I love the Evergreen movies! I think HM has done a really great job of keeping this franchise fresh and introducing new characters while being true to the original stories and new stars. Paul Greene (everyone's favorite doctor on WCTH) and Maggie Lawson (Jules from Psych) are a repeat couple - they starred together in My Favorite Wedding in 2017.

This is the 3rd Christmas in Evergreen. In the first one, Allie (Ashley Williams) meets Ryan (Teddy Sears), who gets grounded in town due to a snowstorm. In the second one, Letters to Santa, Lisa (Jill Wagner) teams up with the local contractor, Kevin (Mark Deklin) to renovate the town's general store.

That brings us to this installment. Katie Connell (Maggie Lawson) is headed to Evergreen, Vermont to relax and take in their annual Christmas festival. On the train, she meets Ben Baxter (Paul Greene) who is returning to his home in Evergreen after a job interview "in the City". When they arrive, Katie meets the rest of the townsfolk who are quick to remind her that it's not uncommon for tourists to stay on permanently once they find love. Evergreen magic is afoot when Hannah drops the famed and beloved Kringle Kitchen snowglobe. As Elliot works to repair it, they find a small key detail under the sleigh and are able to use that clue to find a real key under the sleigh at the tree farm. The key unlocks a giant (and unbelievably pristine and modern) Advent calendar in town that was made as a sort of time capsule 50 years ago. Each day has a letter and something for the whole town to enjoy. Soon Katie's vacation is over and she returns home, but a visit from Ben has her returning to Evergreen just in time for the big Christmas Eve shindig.

I'm really hoping there's a 4th, but this one really tied things up nicely for Hannah, Michelle, and Ezra, and gave us an update on Lisa and Kevin and Allie and Ryan.

Again with the trains!

Holy alliterative names, Batman.

No idea where this was filmed, but Vermont is gorgeous, bee-tee-dubs.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

If Allie isn't still with Dr. Ryan I'm going to be mad.

Agh! Michelle's coat!

Mayor Ezra!
Correction, Mayor Michelle! (Yay!)
Where's Ezra going?

I thoroughly enjoy Malcolm Stewart.

"If it were perfect it wouldn't be charming." I dig that.

Yay! Allie and Ryan are still together! And Ryan is getting an award! In Paris!

Love me some Jill Wagner. She's so expressive.

Is that the matching Christmas sweater guy?

Well if that's not the cutest little library! (Fun fact: I LOVE libraries! #nerd)

WAS THAT THE SNOWGLOBE!??!?!?

He can fix it? Is he a magician?

This town and the keys.

I love a town that takes advantage of its library.

Vermonters LOVE talking about Calvin Coolidge.

He is going to be so mad when he finds out she's been writing about the town.

Nothing sounds better than being snowed in in a place like Evergreen for a month.

So nobody else but these 2 were around 50 years ago? How is that possible?

Shouldn't everything be dusty? Or old looking?

It's ok, I'm crying too, Carol.

Everything is just so well preserved? It's distracting.

Glass blowing is fascinating.

Those foster pups are the real stars of this show. I want that little guy so badly.

Elliot is a genius.

The ring! (Question, why are we calling an engagement ring a wedding ring?)

Maybe Hannah shouldn't touch the snowglobe anymore.

Awww, Ezra's got a lady!

That church! Breathtaking!

I really, really love a meddling Nan.

I don't think red wine pairs well with blueberry pancakes. (#vomit)

Hey now! That's some HM kiss!

Ezra has become quite endearing. That's some very mature savings bonds.

Nan + Nick 4Ever.

Yes! She came back!

Oh so Nick pushed her. Sneaky.

Hooray for Michelle!

Ahhh! Kevin's back too!

That was THE most perfect Christmas Eve montage.

I didn't think he'd end up moving to the City, but that was great!
